“Simple” – Uncomplicated, Easy, Mere

“Your children will be like jewels that a bride wears proudly.”

Isaiah 49:18

Isn’t it neat how sometimes God uses the simplest things to ”bejewel” us with joy? This is a picture of my children. Yes, there are four and yes, they are all mine. This picture is a BIG deal! Truly, a really awesome thing. I yelled, jumped up and down, high fived (my daughter), and got a teensy bit misty after I realized I got it. No, not because I am some looney toon mom that has nothing better to do. It was because I have never – read NEVER, gotten a good picture of all my kiddos together. Let me explain.

My two boys you see on the left are Chance and Gage. They both have autism, sensory processing disorders, and some other stuff so it is incredibly difficult to get a decent picture of them. They just don’t quite get it when you say, “Ok now everybody over here for a quick picture. Say cheese.” Like many things in our day to day, there’s now lots of “simple stuff” that you used to kinda take for granted, that’s not so simple anymore. So, after years of trying to get at least ONE picture of my kids all together… success! “Thank you Lord!”

Such a small, “simple” thing, but God still saw to it for me. He’s sweet like that. I love how He cares about the tiniest details in our lives, not just the major moments. I realize there are times when we don’t feel that He has any interest in the little stuff (sometimes even the big issues seem to go on “unaddressed” from our human vantage point), but if we’ll challenge ourselves by holding those thoughts up against God’s Word (the scriptures) we will see that He does care, even in the miniscule. In Matthew 10:29, 30 Jesus tells us, “Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without Your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.”  Now I doubt there’s anything you or I are concerned about, dealing with, or preparing for that is of less value than “half a penny” or is smaller than “a hair on our head.” In that case, to Him anything is everything and He promises us that He, the Lord – preserves the “simple” (Psalm 116:6).
